So many things, so little time!

So hey there, Internet Land! I've been rolling yarn for the past FOREVER and working on a sock. Soo many people have gotten me yarn over Christmas, my stash box floweth over. Seriously. I have no idea what to do with a lot of this, as it's bulky and I usually work with fingering weight. o__o;

Sweetie's sister got me a pretty bag and a ton of yarn! Gio got me a pound of Caron yarn. . . which I might make a sweater with, not quite sure. . . and members of my family got me various novelty yarns.

I also have a ton of plushie work to do. . .

OH! I opened my copy of World of Knitted Toys! A lot of the things are worked on straight needles, which isn't really my cup o'tea (I hate seams) but if it's yours then you should most likely buy it. The pattern variety is great (It's not just twelve. . . . it's 47) and he simply assembly of the dolls gives me a boost of creativity. I can definitely see myself knitting up the snake, or the turtle, or the clown fish. . . or going with my own flow and turning the tiger into a lion, or the basic human pattern into a version of me! I think this is a great book overall, especially if you're just starting into knit amigurumi. I should probably also sneak in the fact that if you think about the pattern, the knit pieces can be converted to fabric pieces, and the dolls sewn together, hehe. So sneaky!

So long for now, I think it's time to bind off my sock aberration and start rolling up that pound of yarn!

School's Out!

I'm very excited for winter break, partly because it means no school. Hooray! In other news, I've had the strage urge to knit socks, so, I'm going ot make a pair! Double hooray! After this pair, I'm going to work on a set for my sweetie, hehe.

In other news, Let's Knit Dinosaurs. Why? Because they're COOL. This site can hook you up, totally, hehe.

Enjoy winter break! And for all of you that got out early because you're in college, boo. For all of you who are too old to have a "winter break," so sorry. You can have a winter break in spirit!

Baaaaaah!

That's the sound made by my scholastic entry: White sheepie! I'm also going to make a black sheepie soon, too! Above is visible my dear friend Liza hugging the alleged sheepie. (Don't tell her, but she's getting one for graduation, hehe!)

This little baby is soooo cute, and huggable! I'm seriously considering adding them to the etsy shop when it goes lie in early april. I'm gunna be making a crappyload, yay! Stay tuned for more updates.
On the docket are two sock patterns and the whimsie I'm currently working on. I think I'll post them up here, since they'll be sooo cute! The one I want to do next I have the yarn for (it was gifed, I have no idea of the contents or brand or anything, but it's super thin. . .). And it has fish! Oh the insanity.

Hope you are all doing well on the internet, keeping alive, at least. Work hard on those Christmas Presents!

Oh, What I have discovered!

Anti-Craft! I feel like I've been missing a great part of me, and that I've just found it out there on the interweb! I seriously think that some of these patterns are total genius, hehe!
Teratoma doll! As a note, those who aren't old enough to know what a tertoma is should probably not visit this site.

This amazing web zine is so cool. . . It's a bit punky, bit goth, bit wiccan, with hilarity in every issue! Here's a spider baby cap that could probably be easily modded to fish us non-babies:

All in all, it's a great site with creative knits, but there are some problems. I wish the archive had pictures, and that some of the patterns came with more pictures/better quality ones. . . but hey, genius and practicality can't always get along, can they?

New Knitty!

Everytime knitty comes out, it's like Christmas for me! I always hae to spend ages looking at the different patterns.

This season, I'm excited to see Sally the Eco Fairy and this Dodecahedron.

Sometimes, I wish that knitty would come out less often, so I would have more time to make all the patterns. . . but most times, I wish a new knitty came out everyday!

Ah, if all my knitting wishes could come true. . . it would be a weird world indeed.

As for what's on my plate, well, I'll give some hints later when I have my camera, but I WILL say that it's a hat, I'm creating the pattern, it's cute, and I'm making more than one :D Guess, internet people, I dare you!

Um. . .

Well, it turns out all our internet prayers couldn't help my Grandmother. . . She passed away Friday, at around 9 PM.

I'm probably going to take the week off from school. . . meaning I'll have time to knit and stuff.

I made this doll for my baby cousin Ava that's coming in
Sooo cute. It's one of a few I've been wanting to make. . .
Check out this Knit Flower.
Or this one.
I'm not in my normal happy mood. . . sorry. I think I'll feel better later.

Everyone loves fruit!

And how!

These cuties come to the internet from the awesome blog of peche, found here. Featured are a
pear, an apple (above). . . oh, and don't forget apple's twin, rotten apple! Also deep within the 'chives are Banana and, my person favourite, a peach! These would make such adorable christmas gifts!

-Sweater Update- I am le finished with the *fun* part of my sweetie's sweater! All that's left is to sew it up and have him wear it. On to the next venture!

What's your fortune?

Two posts today, to make up for my blog infedelity- but I have an excuse this time! Will all of you in internet land send an internet prayer for my grandmother? She went to the ER yesterday for an anyerism in the clavicular artery . . . or something like that. . . I can't speak doctor very well. (They cna't read a knitting pattern OR understand my young music, so I guess it goes both ways.)

Anyway, on with the post! For all of you who have seen this youtube video and felt jealous, well, I have the remedy! This knitted fortune cookie would make a cute stocking stuffer, most definitely. Hooray for indigomuse!
P.s- Check out that blog! Wheee. . .

Foods Galore!

Well, this post makes up for my absence yesterday. This blog, definitely more sweet than bitter, is an amazing host of creative knits, and some crochet patterns, too, for those of you in internet land that can weild a hook.

Among the free patterns for us in knit-land are peas (right), pizza, cake, pop tarts, and an awesome hat that should be featured in a hostess commercial! She also has a cute tofu!

Mmm!

In honor of the recent holiday, I've decided to do a yummy, nummy food week. Let's kick it off with these cute sushi pieces! Brought to you by the less known knitty counterpart, Magknits. This is an awesome site for free pattern-hunters, and they even have measurements for most projects in both US and metric measurements- a plus, IMHO.

Gold Mine!

All right, the reason I say this is because I seriously feel this pattern could be modded and used to make suuuuccchhh cute dolls! I think I'm going to add that to the to-do list. For now, here is Rufus the Leprechaun!

In All Good Taste. . .

THESE LINKS ARE NOT FOR MINORS, PRUDES, OR ALL OF YOU IMAGINARY BLOG-READERS WHO ARE FUNDAMENTALIST/EASILY OFFENDED.

Hehe, I couldn't resist when I found this while surfing the net! I felt a warm glow spread throughout my heart, just imagining what I could do with this idea. That coupled with Knitty's Rubber Caddy. . . well, you can imagine the gag gifts. I can only imagine. . .

Work on my onigiri is stalled since I can't get new needles for. . . lord knows how long. I have size 3, though, so I'll just redesign. Until then, I'm working on a straight needle bunny akin to what I posted by the lazy knitter. Such inspiration ^_^, thanks, lazy!

Dreaming Cutely!

All right, when I was sleepily surfing the net, I saw this pattern and absolutely FLIPPED out! How cute is it!? I swear, once I get all my Christmas knitting done, I'm making this for someone (I don't know who yet).
Anyway. . . ohmygosh, he's so cute! *cough* Now that I've composed myself, I present to you "Snoozing Ned" from Coats Crafts. If you can read English patterns, more power to you, but if you can figure it out and use it yourself. . . I salute thee!

Today's pattern comes from a fellow blogspot user, the lazy knitter! This uber cute cat will be the envy of your friends. . . and the cutest Christmas gift ever (now's the time to get started for those of you that have a hoarde of friends.)

Trust me, it really is REALLY EASY! :D

Too Cute Hat!

Okay, another non-amigurumi pattern... but an adorable one, at that! This bonnet from Hello Yarn is versatile and, of course, can be embellished with anything you wish - cat ears, bunny ears... totoro ears!

The possibilities are totally endless, and, what's cooler is... there are adult sizes!

Flowers in the Fall

I'm going out of town for the weekend, so I thought I'd post something that you guys could use to occupy your time. It's not exactly amigurumi, but this awesome pattern from Saartje Knits is really adorable. Why not make a bouquet of flowers for your sweetie?

Very Cherry

There's been a bit of a bug in my camera, so I don't want to post any patterns I have yet. . . but, here, have a better one! These tutorials by geckogrrl are a great help, especially if you want to make your own amigurumi. I suggest you check them out, because they're probably the best amigurumi-related tutorials out there... at least, the best I could find.
Tutorial 1 is on shaping heads, and includes instructions for these sweet and sour cherries!

Tutorial 2 is all about bodies, with directions for the different types of body shapes, and oh-- there's a free pattern of it, too! Hurry up and make this cute spider!

Crazy Gator!

Today's pattern comes to you from Lion Brand Yarn, who suggests you use their yarn for this pattern, but don't be fools (as my brother would say), this pattern will work form anything. Its a Gator! Perfect for the little boys out there whose mothers are tired of knitting bunnies and kittens for them.

This piece looks a bit crazy, and I haven't made it myself (like I have with most patterns in my library), but I feel in the end any well-willing person who has mastered increasing and decreasing and. . . all the other stuff. . . will be able to manage him. AND HE'S SO CUTE! If anyone has the audacity to finish this, I'd love to see some photos. Try it!

Mochimochi

I know as much as anyone that buying patterns seems like a scam: "Hey, if I can figure it out, I'll save some money! Let me just try it myself..." Well, let me tell you! These ADORABLE creatures designed by New Yorker Anna Hrachovec are worth all the money in the world. And they're five dollars! That's quite the steal. If you need some practice following patterns, I suggest you try it out.
If you're feeling cheap, there ARE some free patterns out there on the interweb. The cute Miyazaki-inspired critters to the left are featured in the current issue of Knitty. The weblog also has a cute collection of some more simple freebies.
If you're also one of those people who like to go around reading people's knitblogs, then check out http://mochimochiland.com/weblog/ as well! All in all, I'd give Mochimochi Land an A: exciting, enticing, and most of all CUTE!

Phew! My first post! If you have any questions, requests, or links to share, feel free to post them up or email me at lynough@gmail.com

Amigurumi is Life.

So is knitting. So... as a result of my many web searches across the world, I thought I'd post some patterns and ideas that I've found.

I'm an avid knitter, and very skilled (if I may brag). With crochet, however, I'm HORRIBLE. That's why I have a treasure trove of knit amigurumi patterns: and I'd like to put them all together, to save people that want to start knitting amis the pain and blood I had to shed.

I'll put something up soon, okay?
